Paramount Pictures and Hasbro, whose previous collaboration was the worldwide blockbuster “TRANSFORMERS,” join forces with Spyglass Entertainment for another extraordinary action-adventure “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”. From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite G.I. JOE team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization to prevent them from plunging the world into chaos. “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” is directed by Stephen Sommers (“The Mummy,” “The Mummy Returns”).

Tayuna – The story follows two Army soldiers named Duke (Channing Tatum) and Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) who are ordered to protect a package of nanobot warheads that can be used to consume entire cities. A mysterious terrorist organization coincidentally sends Duke’s ex-girlfriend Ana (Sienna Miller) to steal the weapon, but they are thwarted by an elite group of soldiers known as G.I. Joe. Soon, Duke and Ripcord are recruited into G.I. Joe to fight the terrorists and save the world from these weapons.
The Joes, as they are called, are needed to counter a secret nano-tech weapon which is a green liquid that eats up people and buildings and stuff. This weapon has been invented by the evil disfigured scientist named McCullen (Christopher Eccleston), who steals it back from the people he sold it to, and plans to use it to conquer the world. Why is McCullen so pissed off? His Scottish clan was insulted centuries ago.
Cobra has a woman named the Baroness (Sienna Miller) to match Scarlett of the Joes. They have leather fetishwear and are seductively made up.
If “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” had two jive-talkin’ robots, “G.I. Joe” have Ripcord (Marlon Wayans), who is comic relief, black stuff, and can’t control his high-tech armored suit, so he runs into things.
The two teams also each have a skilled Ninja fighter from Japan. I guess the reason they put this because Japan is a huge market for CGI animation and videogames.
There’s a bunch of flashbacks connecting all these people together, but it’s really all about them punching, kicking, cutting, shooting and eventually killing each other.
Overall, the actors and the dialog or poor. For example role play by Sienna Miller as Baroness. They’ve given Miller the most important “dramatic” role of the film. She’s supposed to be a seductress, but it doesn’t seem to possess the range to make us believe she has the power to manipulate men. The sound effects are good, especially the air/laser gun owned by the Baroness, but nothing music-wise is memorable. How do they not try to update the theme song from the cartoon? such a huge mistake for not taking that chance. But all the lack is forgivable because i’m so busy to admire the sights. On my opinion this is the best special effects of this year so far. The underwater battle was something straight out of other adventure fantasy movies.
“G.I. Joe” at least better than “Wolverine”, “Transformers 2″ or even ‘Star Wars’, even though sometimes we have to put our self as 10 years old kid. In other words, knowing or thinking really will take away enjoyment from this film. But at the same time this is my favorite movie of this year so far. Yo Joe !
